Why is it called the Avenue de Champs-Élysées?

This great stretch of boulevard in Paris - connecting the Arc de Triomphe with the Tuileries - is named after the Elysian Fields. Champs means "field" in French; I'm sure you can figure out the rest. Elysium is a place in Greek mythology - the final resting place for heroes.
